i think this activity would have worked a lot better if everyone actually listened to the ideas that others had. we have this huge tendency just to talk over others or shoot their ideas down immediately just because we don't understand them. overall, i think we should all just take the time to listen. we'd get a lot more done in a smaller amount of time that way...
Honestly I agree with clandestine. I was just sitting there, and I could just hear people starting to cut each other off. It was frustrating when someone would voice something and immediately another person just for fun would yell out no, won't work! And then it also didn't help that some people didn't care. They would stare blindly off into space and only go when they realized, oh wait we're going. Or say that this game was stupid, and it was never going to work with an odd number of people...I did like this activity, but I feel like people need to start focusing more on the class and less on themselves or their sphere, and then activities will run smoother. We just all really need to become one body of people.
I think we were a bit obnoxious at the beginning when people were trying to give ideas, but we got better along the way. At the end we did achieve our goal, so it we succeeded
I was happy that people listened to my ideas and they appreciated them. I felt pretty confident about speaking out the next time. The girl who was sitting next to me kept on telling me her ideas and some of them were really good. I tried to help her say it louder so other people can hear it. People listened and I was happy I got to help her. But I hope she can speak out by herself next time.
When we first started, people were kind of loosing interest because there was a tiny group of people working out a plan...So it kind of felt like well why are we here. Once it was shared with the group though every1 came back to focus and we had achieved our goal.
I had a really difficult time with this activity. I just think that no one was listening to anything anyone else had to say. Some people even resorted to just shouting out while other people we talking. And I think it was just like you said. People weren't listening to one another and when someone had a really good idea, they wouldn't share it because people knew that no one would listen anyhow. And even if they did they would shoot it down right away without hesitation or they would just say, "My idea is better than yours, we'll go with that one". Also, I noticed that the only people who spoke the most often and really were the only people discussing were the people who were friends and are the ones who talk all the time and aren't afraid to say their mind. I think that they should take a break from being the leaders and let the shy people share their thoughts. Some of the people who don't talk just don't want to participate and it's fine, it was a friday, I get that, but I have plenty of good ideas and my voice is too soft to be heard. We are supposed to be more like a team than a class and I think in this activity we back-tracked to a state that we were in the first couple days of this year. Don't anyone take this personally, cause I'm not shooting anyone down. I'm just stating what I think is happening and what we need to do to change it.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this activity. People really had a lot of good ideas, but they weren't saying them because everyone else was talking. I noticed a lot of people trying to raise their hands and no one else said anything. So I tried to quiet the group down. I think everyone's voice needs to be heard and I hope soon everyone will be able to speak out without raising their hands. I guess you could say I was one of those people who was being loud and trying to voice ideas. I had no intention on ever putting anyone's ideas down or cutting people off. If I did that I apologize. But in my perspective I was trying to get everyone else involved. If you looked around there were lots of groups doing their own thing not fully committing to the activity. In the end I liked this. It got us all to work together as a team. I just wish EVERYONE was involved, instead of most of us.
I think this activity was supposed to teach us different ways of looking at a situation and thinking and talking through things instead of just jumping into them. I liked working on this because it showed how much everyone depended on one person because when one person wasn't there it messed up the even number of people and we had to find a new way to do the activity.
i think that this activity would have worked allot better if people would have just listened to other people!!!! there was alto of talking over people and the people that had good ideas were just being talked over! so i think that we as a class need to work on that! but other than that i think that the activity was fun and i think that we can get it done faster than we finally did! some people might not think that but i sure do think that!!! but over all again i thought that the activity was a good one!!!
I thought that this activity worked twenty times better the second time we did it than the first time. The second time people who usually didn't contribute ideas, did, and their ideas were really successful. I know we still have to work on listening to everyone, but i think this was a step in the right direction
Honestly, the activity was about "thinking outside of the box" but all we had to do was do whatever we were doing faster and faster to get a better time. Other than that, the activity was pretty boring overall.
Friday would not be the most ideal activity to do such an activity. Everyone is just itching to get out of class and wondering about what heir going to do after school. So other days would be better for such an acticity because you have nothing but school to think about
Meh, to me it was just another activity. With the same thing, no one really listens to each other, and we don't really get anywhere when it comes to working as a team.
I think the activity was fun but sometimes people were talking over each other. People kept on saying ideas but no one was really listening because other people were trying to say their ideas. We should try to listen to other peoples ideas and not talk over them.
i think this activity was interesting. at first, when we got it done we were all pretty glad we got it done but when we found out were trying to beat our previous time i think it changed things. When we heard that the 45 freshmen boys did it faster than us we tried to just think of ways to do it fast. we basically did the same thing but faster and that did not work. THe second time we did it, it worked much better because we started to come up with different ways to do it. By doing so, we beat our previous times and it worked out well. However, throughout planning, i thought it was a bit hectic because people were not really listening to everyone but most of ideas people threw out there were put into suggestion.
I think this activity worked really well once we all stopped coming up with different versions of the same solution. The only thing we have trouble with is talking. We either don't, or everyone does at the same time. With some practice we will be able to achieve a happy medium. I enjoyed listening to people's ideas and learning different ways to problem solve. Overall, I think this activity showed us our weaknesses and how we can improve.
quite agree with everything said above. near the middle things started to get kind of shakey because people weren't listening to eachother and questions weren't being answered. but the most important thing is that we learned and ended on a pretty strong note.
It was really kind of frustrating when people cut each other off and didn't give other peoples ideas a chance. Being negitive only gets everyone angry and then we don't even want to share our ideas. In the end we came up with some interesting ideas. All it took was an open mind and a opened ears.
I think that we were listening to eachother better this time but it took us a while to figure out a new way to do it. It also showed that everyone is important/needed because we were 1 person short and completely thrown off. --sugar mamma
i thought it was good in the beginning, because we were able to figure out a method quickly. But after that, when Mr. H told us to come up with a different idea, it was hard for some people to except other ideas and opinions. I don't think people were intentionally cutting other people off, we were all just very frustrated and wanted to get the activity done, so we just assumed one idea was the best and shrugged off the rest. We should work on trying to view future activities in many ways.
I forgot to do this so i guess im turning it in late...
the activity tested us as a class/team or however you want to think of us as. There were many ideas up in the air at once. So it took us all a while to come to a agreement on one idea. but when we finally tried an idea it worked pretty good. It was a good 'ol time....
i thought this activity woulve been nice if everyone list4ened to other peoples ideas. it really frustrated me to hear people tryig to give ideas and they got turned down right away. this class makes me really frustrated.
I thought it was really frustrating how we couldn't figure out how to make this activity work. In the end I felt that we had done a pretty good job as a class.
I think this activity was unorganized because no one was listening to anyone. And it was annoying that we couldn't figure things out for a while, but in the end we got it done.
it is hard to have a activity like this run smoothly when nobody listens to your ideas .. this class just frustrates me a lot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been teaching since 1995. I started teaching at Winston Campus Junior High in Palatine. In 2001 I began teaching at Fremd. I am an assistant golf and wrestling coach. I have also coached boys gymnastics and I was a sponsor for Powder Puff Football and Outdoor Adventure Club. I am the 4th child of 5, 3 older sisters and 1 younger brother. I am married and I have two great boys 2 1/2 year old and a 5 week old. Chase and Brody. I love it when I come home and chase yells out "DADDY" and has a big smile on his face and is coming to hug me.

The game was pretty unorginized. I think because it was friday, no one was really in the mood to listen to other people's ideas.

I really like the activity, but we need to learn to listen to peoples ideas when they are talking. But i would really like to try that activity again.

It was an ok activity. yeah, it would have been better if we all worked on our listening skills.

I though it was pretty darn lame
i think we should do some fun stuff rather than boring stuff we have already done

Sry to be negetive but this game was real LAME......idk i just didn't like it. There was lack of communication.
i thought it was really boring. we need to do some fun stuff.
