Well, I'm a bit scared of rappelling now, but I must say I really trust my group. Sometimes I think it takes a really high pressure situation for you to really realize how amazing your group is, and how they're really there for you. All in all I had fun.
When we first started rapelling, I was practically fearless, but I became instantly terrified the second I stood on the edge. I think standing on the edge is the worst part because once you actually start walking down it's not so bad.
My only concern is participation. My group has done wonderfully in this aspect, but I have seen (and been told of) other groups who are not. It takes every single one of the people in the group to make sure the person rapelling goes down saftely, so there really should not be people just standing around.
However, I am excited that this is going pretty smoothly, and I can't wait to see what else we're going to start doing.
I haven't had a chance to be the one to rapell yet, but I'm planning on going on monday (unless we're doing fitness)! I'm excited to do it but also a little nervous. But for the most part I trust my group members! :)
i was really excited to repel but then after we dropped someone i lost a lot of trust in my group. I still want to repel but i want my group to get more practice before i repel because im kinda scared to now --sugar mama
I am reallyscared to propel, but now that I've seen more people go and get down successfully I feel more confident in my abilities. Plus I'm sure I'll be cracking jokes the whole way down to try and seem like it's no big deal. I think also I am a little scared of heights.
My group has gotten pretty quick since the first day of repelling. Repelling is pretty fun even though the technique is something im not familiar with.
i think it was scary the first time but after i did it i felt like it was nothing. also i trusted my group i felt like they would help me when i needed it.
i was kinda nervous cause like in my group we had 3 falls and 2 were falls by the same person .. it was funny and we caught her .. but it did make me scared .. but then i thought about it and like if 3 times people have fallen and nobody has hit the ground then like .. we are really good at catching yano .. but in all it wasnt that scary .. i like my group and .. i like it :)
while watching other people rapel, it doesn't look scary at all, but i definitely started to freak out a bit once it was my turn to be on that edge. as scary as it was initially, i was glad that i was able to do it. it's really not that bad. :)
i trusted my group a lot when rapelling. i learned a lot about the people in my group and it's always cool to get closer to people. I was pretty nervous the first time i rapelled but now i'm just excited for new and crazier things! Yay adventure ed!
Someone in my group slipped and fell today. I was the person who had to give slack to the rope and support if the person repeling falls. Well, when this person fell, I was pulled and got smacked into the fence thing. That was kind of scary but I'm glad I was able to save the person. It was kind of funny too. It probably shouldn't be though.... I had fun repeling. Next time I will wear different shoes. Don't ever wear converse!!
practice makes perfect. and by doing it more often your fear of heights will diminish. all the people who went did very well. and if you messed up a little this time its not a big deal. we've got many more chances to polish it. GOOD WORK!!!
i really trust my group and i thought it was fun even though it was kinda scary at first. we dropped one person but it was funny and no one got hurt so it was all good. we maybe a little hurt but nothing big haha. and i like my group a lot cause we get the work done but have fun too! :)
repelling is fun...i trust my group a lot....but i got to say repelling is a scary thing. i repelled 2 days ago...and wow it was real scary.but its been fun!!!
I feel really comfortable with my group. i think we all are really into this activity. it's a lot easier when we all work together and it has made repeling more fun and less scary.
i didn't know about half of my group that well going into belaying/rappelling, but we got off to a good start and so far we haven't had any major accidents! everyone has gone down at least once and i can say that i feel pretty solid belaying with any of my group members.
hey everybody it kurt =] just wanted you to all know that i am out of this class
rock climbing isn't me and after H yelled at me that was the final straw
i'm not trying to sound like a repeating record but this class is just pretty lame to me, the team building stuff and getting to know you all was great, but i'm a sports kid . . . all my life i have played sports and worked on abilities with teams so that's what i am going to do
hope you all have tons of fun without me, your all pretty cool people and don't ever let anyone tell you that your not, the more you put yourself out there the more people will accept you, and just because u get verbally bashed or someone doesn't like you doesn't mean you should not be who you are
all i can hope is that you guys look at me more as a person rather than a kid who's been through a lot, i hope you can look at me as a joker, i hope you can look at me for me instead of what you hear in the halls Peace and Love
Overall, I trust my group. I don't know the people in my group all that well but i know them well enough to trust them and to also have them trust me. When i was first rapelled, i was scared but they encouraged me by helping me and saying everything was going to be okay. and after each person goes we tell each other good job. Rapellings a lot less scarier for me now because we've done it several times now. It's fun. :)
i love it. i always want to rapel even though i've fallen before. i really trust my group because when i did fall they caught me and that makes me feel even safer now when i rapel. the only part that's really scary is the very first step becasue you just want to walk down and you don't really want to lean back, but overall it's still really fun. I think that the hardest part about repeling is the leaning back part and learning the different ways to tie all the ropes. I trust my group and can't wait to move on to the next level!
I have been teaching since 1995. I started teaching at Winston Campus Junior High in Palatine. In 2001 I began teaching at Fremd. I am an assistant golf and wrestling coach. I have also coached boys gymnastics and I was a sponsor for Powder Puff Football and Outdoor Adventure Club. I am the 4th child of 5, 3 older sisters and 1 younger brother. I am married and I have two great boys 2 1/2 year old and a 5 week old. Chase and Brody. I love it when I come home and chase yells out "DADDY" and has a big smile on his face and is coming to hug me.

I trusted my group on rapelling. But it was very scary. It's good to try new things because now i'm more confident.
