I saw a few things that made me nervous. People not doing their jobs to the full extent such as not pulling in the slack as much as they need to or not holding the rope the right way. It really concerned me that we are going high on the walls/ladders without properly knowing how to do the system properly. A couple good things, though. people really have started to get out of their box and go out and do things they didn't think they could, or would even have done at the beginning of the year. Plus, I'm proud of the way we're all using the commands. We've pretty much got those down pat in some way shape or form. Good job team!
Well one thing I saw was that we all take great direction. For most of us, once Mr. H told us and explained the right way for us to do something, we understood it, even if we didn't at first. I really am scared about what will happen when we start climbing higher though...since that's where the not pulling in slack and not focusing becomes a real issue. Overall though, I think we're all doing a pretty good job, and with a little improvement, it'll be not only fun, but safe too.
I think the thing that made me the most nervous was the fact that people weren't paying attention when people in their group were climbing. There are a lot of things that can go wrong very quickly because we just started climbing and people still aren't sure what to do. Only after we have been climbing for awhile, can we finally start to trust the climber. I think that the good things are that people are hooking the gear up well and that, for the most part, the belay people are standing in the right spots and doing their jobs well. The thing that makes me the most nervous is the fact that people aren't paying attention. I definitely don't feel comfortable climbing all the way up to the ceiling if people can't pay attention long enough. That's the biggest thing we need to work on.
A positive thing is that people are being less nervous. They are climbing and not being afraid as much. Something that needs improving is when people arent paying attention and instead talking to their friends. -Chris Quinlan
A positive is that I think we're using really good teamwork and we're working together well. However there are definately a lot of things that need to be improved, like keeping all of your attention on the climber and not on other things. From what I've done so far with climbing it's not too scary, but I'm sure it will be soon when I have to climb all the way to the top!
I saw a few positive things, like people working together and correctly holding the ropes, but at the time, I also saw lots of people not concentrating, and not knowing how the system works. When people in my group dont know what they're doing it makes me really nervous. The way we climb in this class is different than the way im used to, and it can be a little confusing. Overall I think that we just need to get the hang of the climbing system and then we will all be more comfortable climbing. -Cramer
One positive thing I saw in the video was they way we are all working together. It shows just how much we have grown as a class together. But I got a bit nervous when I saw people in the background not helping out or goofing around. This is some pretty dangerous stuff and we need to take it seriously.
the fact that everyone was working together and having a good time was fantastic, but we also have to remember safety. giving too much slack and the anchor not being low to the ground was an overall problem. what makes me nervous is that within the moment that people stop focusing on the climber is the moment accident occur. we gotta work on that. overall though people a cooperating and it is just wonderful to see how far we have come from the beginning of the school year. Great Work!!!
a lot of us having things we have to change but once mr.h told us what to do i think we got the hang of it but over all i think we need to just pay attention to our group more. including myself i do my job but im not always paying attention to my climber im looking at another group or talking to a friend. a positive thing i think is that we are getting along as a class so much better and we are encouraging eachother and have great team work.
One of the positives I saw in the video was that we are all finally starting to work as a team. It's definitely evident that we're all starting to break away from our little cliques. However, what worried me a bit were people goofing around and not paying attention to whoever was climbing at the time. It's really important that your focus is on the person climbing, and not on your friend asking you about the history test or whatever. This should be an easy problem to fix.
One thing that was good was everyone for the most part understood the jobs they had to do and when someone WAS climbing we paid attention. Also, when Mr. H told us to do something differently, we changed it quickly which showed we really cared about the climber and their safety. Our focus, however could be better. People moving from group to group and talking to other groups when someone was climbing was a little scary. Overall i think we got off to a good start though
Over all I think that a few people are ready to move on! But there are those few that are not! Some things that should probably stop would be talking between the groups when someone is one the wall! We all fell into this and the only one to blame would be ourselves! Something that I saw was good would be that we encouraged the person on the wall! That should definatly keep on coming! I am excited to try the different walls and I look forward to conpleting all of the walls!
The one positive thing i saw was that people are working together and doing their jobs in their groups. The thing that makes me nervous is that some people weren't paying attention to what they were doing. They shouldn't be talking to their friends when somebody is on climbing the wall. We should work on that and doing the commands. But i really like climbing and other people seem to like it so thats good.
i think people are trying for the most part to do a good job so that's one positive thing. we need to work on doing everything properly and correct in order to be able to continue climbing.
It kind of freaked me out when I saw people not paying attention especially so early on. Some of the things on the video make me very nervous to climb. I am pretty sure i can trust my group though. A positive thing i saw was people are trusting people and they are going outside of their personal boundaries.
It seems to me that a lot of us need some more practicing. I mean there were a lot of mistakes in that video, but on the other hand at least we're learning by going over our mistakes. I'm not too worried about us learning this over time. Oh and the people goofing off know who they are and I'm sure by looking at themselves realize how nerve racking it is for the person climbing.
one positive thing i saw was everyone was working as a team. this is good because it shows how far we came as a whole group. one thing i like about climbing is the part when we jump off the wall.
From Sean) People din't do there jobs. people should not be talking about other subjects during the gym hour or in class. better to make sure the steps are fine before we clime walls. Its all good for the team!
I think you shouldn't expect much more from people just starting to learn the system and just beginging to climb. There were some parts where someone wasn't paying attention and saomething bad couldve happened but much more shouldnt be expected from people jus starting to climb.
people don't seem to listen or pay attention as much as they should, but other than that everyone seems excited and willing to do a lot. our technique and willingness is good.
Some people are just not paying attention to their groups. A positive thing is that a lot more people are willing to climb now. Overall i think climbing is fun and its going well.
with my group at least, i think we do a good job balancing out the people who tend to not listen well and the people who know what they're doing. If somthing doesn't go right, like we forget to tie somthing or knot somthing, one of the group members will usually find the mistake and fix it, and we make sure everythings ready before sombody climbs. As far as the video is concerned a little nervous some of us may look goofy, but overall i think its gonna have some great results!
Well, the teamwork is one positive thing. Something we need to work on is the fact that we goof off a lot and don't seem to take the climbing all too seriously. -Fish
sorry for fooling around during class, i won't do that anymore :) well, when doing something that involves ropes and high walls. i love climbing, though. it's pretty fun and its a great workout!
there were a couple of things that could be improved on our positions and saying the calls, but we didn't drop/hrt anyone, so we're doing something right.
